October 31
After more than 5 months of work and about a year of planning, we moved into our new terminal this past weekend.  Where we were working in cramped conditions at the old building, our new facility allows us to easily handle a 500 truck fleet.  Our new shop facility will soon be servicing our company trailers where before we had to contract that work out.  We can now also transfer our own freight on a loading dock, wash our own trailers and use our own scale.  Our 16 acre yard is fully fenced and gated with after hour access granted by card pass entry.  The after hours drivers lounge has washer & dryer for the drivers use as well as satellite TV.

October 17
With move in day just 12 days away, interior worked continued at a feverish pace.  The workers laid the carpet in the administration area.  The cupboards were installed in the bathrooms, kitchen, and training areas.  Outside, landscapers were busy leveling the yard after several loads of fill and topsoil was brought in.  The main gate and fence were also installed.

October 11
Interior work is nearing completion.  The dispatch and administration areas were readied to have the carpet installed.  The electro-static painting of the railing in the front entryway was completed.  The asphalt for the staff parking area was also laid down.

October 3
Interior work continued as its less then 4 weeks to move in day.  Interior doors were stained and installed.  A dust control mixture was spread throughout the entire yard.  The yard will settle for a year or so before any final decision on asphalting.

September 19
A busy week with move in day just over a month away. The exterior was
nearly complete with the sign being erected over the past week. Painting
continued as the interior door were starting to be installed and the ceiling
tile tracking was installed. The lighting for the entire building and shop
was also installed.

September 12
Painting was started on the 2nd floor as the main floor's drywall and taping
was finishing. The chain link fence was partially installed over the past
week. The furnces also started to be installed.

September 5
Interior work continued as the drywall was nearing completion on the main
floor and the finishing taping and mudding was nearing completion on the
second floor. The staircase in the main entryway was installed. The fence
poles for the chain link fence around the entire property was also
installed.

August 29
The tyndall stone was completed over the last week. The weather hasn't
cooperated this week preventing completion of the front façade. The large
front windows overlooking the entryway were installed and the 2nd floor
drywall was almost completed and taping started. Less than 2 months to move
in day and things are still on schedule.

August 22
Work continued on the interior as drywalling has begun. Most of the
electrical, plumbing and duct work was completed this week. The Tyndall
stone on the front exterior was also started. The cement in the shop area
was also poured.

August 15
Work on the duct work continued this week. The insulation was also put into
the walls. The rebar for the shop floor was put in and is ready for cement.

August 8
Work continued on the interior as the studding was erected throughout the
1st & 2nd floors. Heating ducts were installed in the 2nd floor. The
exterior walls in the office are double thick to help insulate better but
also because the building is situated near the airport and railway tracks.
The steel frame for the shop area was installed and the concrete for the
wash bay and loading dock was also poured over the last week.

August 1
Work began on the office area as the studs for the interior walls were
beginning to be installed. The parts area was completed as well. Work
continued on the wash bay and loading dock area in preparation for the
concrete.

July 25
Work continued on the office area as the metal studs were put up around the
exterior walls and insulation in the roof was put in. Workers continued
erecting the firewall between the shop and washbay.

July 18
An incredible windstorm on the weekends with winds up to 110kph did some slight damage to the building (and tipped over some trailers at the neighbours) but work quickly resumed on Monday.  The concrete for the 1st & 2nd floor office areas was poured over the weekend and the firewall between the offices and the shop area was begun.  The steel frames for the wash bay and loading dock were put up and the storage tanks for the wash bay were put in the ground.

July 11
The concrete was poured for the loading dock, scale and the safety poles at
overhead doors. The steel beams continue to be erected as the building is
starting to take shape.

July 4th
The building is starting to take shape. The first of the steel was erected.
The forms were prepared to make the scale, and asphalt is being put down for
the road.

June 28, 2005
The first loads of steel were delivered, with the structure planned to be erected next week. The sewer drains for the office area were installed as well.

June 15, 2005
Although we've had a very wet June and lost a couple of days construction, the current nice weather should help us still keep on track for a mid-October opening.  The pouring of the grade beam was completed over the last week and gravel was hauled in to level the floor.  In the first picture, the area between the two concrete walls is the future parts department, with the truck and trailer bays on the other side of the wall.

May 31, 2005
The concrete has started to flow.  82 piles were poured over the last week, at an average depth of 17'. The grade beam for the office area was poured as well, with the rest of the building to be poured over the next week.May 16, 2005

May 25, 2005
Workers continued to haul gravel to the site.  The concrete for the first piles was poured and the well was drilled.

May 16, 2005
After 2 weeks and approximately 700 loads of gravel and rock, work began on construction of Payne Transportation Inc.'s new head office.
These pictures show the first holes for the pilings been drilled.
