Payne Transportation Inc. receives C-TPAT certification

Payne Transportation Inc. is pleased to announce that we received our C-TPAT certification from US Customs and Border Protection effective February 9th, 2004.

The Customs-Trade Partnership Against Terrorism is the United States security portion of the FAST (Free and Secure Trade) border crossing program. Under the direction of US and Canada Customs, Payne Transportation Inc. undertook an evaluation of our security policies and procedures. We have made enhancements to our security policies and procedures and have been training our drivers to increase their security precautions when on the road.

By joining this program, we have proven to Customs that we do not pose a threat to security, and allows Customs to focus their energies on those companies that have not been C-TPAT/FAST approved. As a result of these enhancements, we will be given expedited clearances at the border. When clearing a load with a FAST approved driver and C-TPAT approved customer, we would be subject to less inspection and allowed to use the FAST lanes at certain border crossings.

We strongly encourage our customers to consider joining the program. By doing so, they can help to ensure their freight gets to US customers should US Customs again increase the level of border security.
